Andrei Bina is a Romanian student who, thanks to a scholarship, attends a specialization course in foreign languages ​​and literatures at the University of Rome. Since there are few scholarship money, he works at a pizzeria in the evening and, when he is called, in the police station where he translates the interrogations and interceptions of his countrymen. That dirty work in police station Andrei, however, does not do it to raise some extra money, but to keep faith with a promise he made to his Moldavian girl Mihaela when he left Romania, that in some way he would get her residence permit to bring her to Italy too. Andrei’s work in the pizzeria and police station inevitably distracts from the studio something that does not escape his tutor, who, animated by the sincere desire to enhance his talent (Andrei, in addition to Romanian and Italian, speaks perfectly different languages, including the German), puts him in touch with his friend, Anna Ritter, who wants to translate the diary of the German husband who had just died in tragic circumstances. With this delicate task Andrei is catapulted into a world that until then has not even dared to dream. The translation meetings give rise to a great closeness between the student and the young widow who soon turns into a strong underground attraction that Andrei decides to exploit when she discovers that the words of love in her husband’s diary are not for her, but for a another woman. I would forget Mihaela and the promise he made her, and substitutes her husband’s words with his own words in which he confesses his love to the woman. Anna discovers the deception and at first leaves the audacious storyteller away from her, but then decides to play the game of seduction and lets herself be conquered. Anna and Andrei sink into an overwhelming passion that erases class differences, fears and external obstacles. But relegated to a sort of alcove, a hybrid space between warehouse and habitable place, the love between the two is destined to last a short time: one afternoon, a call brings Andrei mercilessly to its roots and to the promise it has made.
